Yes! We went back to Korea! This time, during Spring or the season of Cherry Blossoms. We planned to go to Japan originally to experience the cherry blossoms. But our plan has changed since we are too attached to everything about South Korea. Yes, we. Probably, I can now consider myself addicted to everything related to Koreans along with my wife. Currently, we don’t just watch Korean Dramas. We even watch Korean movies, variety shows, music videos, etc. We even got excited about the news that the relation between the North and South Korea is starting to get better now. South Korea is an incredible country.
Brimming with mouth-watering food, exciting attractions and unforgettable shopping spots. The amount of things to do, see and eat in South Korea are endless. South Korea has become a popular travel destination for Filipinos. I think it was not only because of Kpop, but also because of their food, culture, the people, tourist destination, etc. This will result to a huge increase of Filipino tourist to South Korea in the coming years.
If you’re one of the people who is heeding the call of your wanderlust, there’s something that you have to do first before you jet off to see the Kpoplandia. That is to get a Korean visa. If you’re feeling intimidated, don’t worry! Korean Tourist Visa application in the Philippines is fast and easy as long as you have all the requirements. Submission of Requirements
Submit your complete requirements personally to the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Cebu.
I went to the consulate thru “Habal-Habal”. Although the consulate is at the center of the Business Park in Cebu City, I was able to find it easier. Visa applications are only accommodated from Monday to Friday at 9am-11am only. During weekends and holidays, the consulate is closed. Additionally, please make sure to bring 1 valid ID aside from your passport. The building reception will ask for your ID to get the visitors pass. Also, inside the Consular office, the camera on your phone will be covered with a sticker due to security reasons. Then, a number will be given including the list of required documents (depending on your employment status).
Approach the VISA window when your number appeared on the TV screen and hand over all the requirements. Then, the office will check your document and briefly assess it. Hence, make sure that your requirements are complete. Otherwise, you’ll be advised to come back to complete your requirements. I submitted the requirements of myself, my wife and my sister in law here in Cebu. Finally, if the requirements are complete and accepted, a receipt will be provided which will be used to collect the visa.
59 days (or less) stay in Korea — GRATIS (FREE)
60 to 90 days stay in Korea — PHP2,000.00
Passport and Visa Collection
A receipt will be provided when you submit your requirements. On the receipt, you will find the date and time when you can collect your passport/visa. From the day you will submit your complete requirements, it usually takes 7 working days to process the visa application. On weekdays, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, you can collect your passport/visa.. You may return to the consulate to claim your passport on the date indicated on the receipt given to you.
Get a ticket number again for passport/visa collection. Go to the visa window once your number appeared on the TV screen. Then, handover your receipt. Finally, you will receive your passport where you can see if the visa has been approved. Make sure to double check that your name, passport number and other details are CORRECT before leaving the counter to avoid any trouble in the future.
In my opinion, the Korean tourist visa application in Cebu is straightforward. Also, the security guard and the employees are approachable. I even borrowed a glue stick to attach our pictures on our application forms. In addition, to get a higher chance of being approved, make sure that all required documents are in place when submitting it to the consulate. Also, I made a checklist which is very helpful in completing the requirements. Here is the link. I hope that your application will get approved to enjoy South Korea.
God Bless on your visa application and enjoy South Korea!
South Korea offers a whole lot more than the buzzing urban expanse of its vibrant capital. It’s easy to plan and manage a DIY (Do It Yourself) travel tour in South Korea as they have a massive train network and efficient transportation. Which is why all the tours on our itinerary are much cheaper compared to having your tours organized by an agency.
