Amsterdam, a city full of colorful homes, canals and bridges, is one of Europe's most picturesque capitals. Red Light District, Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum and the canal cruise are some of the Things to do in Amsterdam. Rent a bike and join thousands of locals navigating Amsterdam's labyrinthine streets, or just take in the sights on foot.
Coffeshops in Amsterdam is different from the usual 'CoffeeShop' we know. Coffeeshops in Amsterdam are allowed to sell small amounts of cannabis and are strictly regulated and taxed. If you are looking for a real coffee, you need to find a Cafe instead. Amsterdam continues to look good on a postcard (or Instagram), largely thanks to its 400-year-old waterways, which are criss-crossed with a host of bridges that outnumber those in Venice.
Netherlands is the last country we visited as part of our Europe Escape Trip via Expat Explore. Whenever you're walking around the city, be aware that cyclists are a serious part of traffic! Be careful when you cross the street and keep clear of the special biking lanes. That is one of the most useful tip provided to us by our Tour Leader.
Planning to visit The Netherlands?
Transportation in this country is easy. Although it is a bit pricey for tourist especially if your hotel is far from the city. Also, the weather can be unpredictable sometimes since Netherlands is part of the low countries in Western Europe. Make sure your clothes is ready whether it is raining or there is a snowfall.
The historical atmosphere combined with the mentality of a modern metropolis makes the city interesting. Definitely two days is not enough to tour around this amazing city. Have you been to or planning to go to Amsterdam?
