I’m back! After being in hiatus for several months, I am back to posting our travel destinations again. We’ve been to few countries last year but I was not able to share those experiences here on my blog due to me being occupied by a lot of things at work. But now, I will try my best to be active again in posting our travel experiences to share it with you guys. So stay tuned. If you are planning to visit Bali anytime soon, this post might be perfect as your ultimate travel guide to Bali Indonesia. 🙂
We traveled to South Korea for the second time during Spring time of 2018. Three months after, we decided to visit Bali, Indonesia. This time, it is to celebrate my 30th birthday. But before Bali, we stayed in Kuala Lumpur for 3 days to explore the capital city of Malaysia. I will share my experience about it on a separate post. But if you are planning to visit Bali anytime soon, this post might be perfect as your ultimate travel guide to Bali Indonesia.
We have chosen Air Asia for our flights since they have a lot of flights across South East Asia and that includes Malaysia & Indonesia. This is a great idea if you want to visit multiple countries and save money on your flights. You’ll be able to transfer from nearby countries with cheaper flight cost. From Cebu, we had a transit Kuala Lumpur and then transfer to Bali at Ngurah Rai International Airport. We booked a private car from Bali Customized Tours as the airport is too far from our hotel in Ubud. We decided to stay in Ubud first since it’s far from the airport, around 40 kms. Then, we moved to Kuta which is very near to the airport. With this, it’ll be easier for us to travel from north to south of Bali.
Laid-back town of Ubud
In Ubud, we stayed in Atta Mesari Resort & Spa which is at the heart of Ubud. We booked it through Booking.com. When booking a hotel, it would be best if you will not only rely on the reviews on one website. You can check other websites online that will give you more information about the current condition of the hotel. It will also give you a better insight if the hotel matches your expectations on your vacation. I will create a separate post to share our unforgettable experience in this hotel in Ubud.
When looking for the hotel in Ubud, we were looking for something that is relaxing which is the main reason why we decided to stay in Ubud and which has a pool that is overlooking a forest or rice fields. Luckily, we were able to find Atta Mesari Resort & Spa as their place has a relaxing vibe and their pool is beside a mini forest with lots of coconut trees. The hotel also offers free ride to/from the town center of Ubud. While in Ubud, we went to nearby places such as Ubud Town Center, Tanah Lot temple, Tegenungan Waterfall and Lempuyang Temple(View of Mt. Agung),
There are a few things you can do and see on the town center of Ubud. Similar with other tourist places, you’ll see a big market with a lot of shops to choose from but they are just selling the same. But it’s worth to jump from one shop to another especially if you are looking to buy Pasalubong (Souvenirs) to your friends and relatives. You’ll also find some local art works in Ubud since it is the center of Art in Bali. Travel tip – avoid going there during rush hours or when the students are about to go home as the place can be very crowded and busy.
Kuta Beach : The busiest area of Bali
Kuta is a beach and resort area in the south of the island of Bali, Indonesia. One of Bali’s first tourist developments, it’s best known for its party-centric atmosphere and surfing in the Indian Ocean. Kuta’s long, consistent waves make it a popular surf spot, particularly for beginners, with plenty of outfitters offering board rentals and surf lessons. The main reason why we decided to stay in Kuta is due to the fact that it is near the airport and that we can go to Nusa Penida from Kuta. Nusa Penida is one of the highlights or our visit in Bali.
If you are looking for a nice beach, don’t go to Kuta Beach. The beach there is crowded, not that clean and the sand is not that powdery. Though, there are plenty of things you can do in Kuta Beach. We stayed in Amnaya Resort Kuta which is a very nice hotel and at the center of Kuta beach area. It is near Discovery Shopping Mall which is where you can buy a lot of stuffs before leaving Bali.
Aside from the Discovery Shopping mall, there’s a lot of restaurants, shops, massage/spa that you can find along the streets of Kuta. Which makes it more popular to a lot of tourist and makes it not an ideal place to stay in Bali if you are looking for a more quite place to relax. But if you are looking for party places or hang out places, you will like Kuta.
You shouldn’t miss Nusa Penida Island
The reason why we decided to go to Bali is the Nusa Penida island. Specifically the Kelingking Beach which is famous for its Tyrannosaurus Rex shaped cliff. I first saw this out of this world beach in Instragram through the post of Lost LeBlanc. I told my wife that we should visit this place whatever happens. It is not that easy to reach this secluded island and I will share how we did it on another post. There’s a lot of things you can do and see in this island. You shouldn’t leave Bali without going to this magical island.
We never want to leave Bali
There’s a lot of exciting things you can do only in Bali and the places I have shared above are just some of it. We have decided to go to these places as we think this is the best places you should visit in Bali if you have limited time to stay. The post above are just a teaser of the places we have visited but can serve as your ultimate travel guide to Bali Indonesia. I am planning to create a separate post for each of the places which will contain more tips on how we made the most of our vacation in Bali. Hopefully, when I have the time. 🙂
